THE HAIR DIARIES

What better way to start a new year than a brand new hair style? …bonus points of course for a new color as well πŸ˜‰

If this were true….I guess good for me since I opted for both options! But let’s rewind a bit and talk about my hair situations for those of you who are not familiar with my head. I promise I am going to be brief 😜

I was born with really dark … and I mean really dark black hair. I am pretty sure my half indian heritage was responsible for my natural color. However, during my teen years I was a little over my head and bored by my color #hugeregretallert, so I went from beautiful luminous black hair to literally FIRE β€œFRIED” RED hair. Since than nothing has ever been the sameπŸ˜‚. #endofthestory

Regardless of the brief recap I LOVE LOVE to change my hair, it just gives me so much joy, especially experimenting with bold colors, I literally live for the say “life is too short to have boring hair” but the biggest challenge is always how to keep HEALTHY Hair while having fun with it, therefore I always go to a professional since I learned my lesson the hard way!

By all means I am no expert at all when it comes to hair, but I sure try my best to look after them in my very lazy schedule of things.

So for those of you who are interested this is what I use nowadays I always do a hair mask once sometimes twice a week and I leave it on for at least 30 minutes. Once a month I use also coconut oil on my hair ( Indian moms best secret for healthy hair I guess…) to give the hair extra nourish and love.

As for shampoo I use mostly the Gold Quinoa protein Absolute Repair from L’Oreal SerieExpert and from time to time since I am blond now I throw in the mix the purple shampoo Blondifier from the same SerieExpert line.

As for the drying and styling of the hair I always use some drops of the olaplex NΒ°7 bonding oil and the l’Oreal SerieExpert repair spray.

As you can see I have tried my fair share of colors, but I always take a break in from time to time to avoid stressing my hair too much and leave it alone to their natural self.

In September I decided to try to go blonde ( or at least try to achieve a cool toned head) so I started a real long journey of highlighting and toning my hair gradually. However a change like this as required a lot of effort but so far I am loving it, so I ‘ll hold on and be patient!

IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT GOING BLONDE and have fine hair like mine, here is my list of DO’S and DON’ T from experience:

  1. USE HAIR MASK
  2. LIMIT the use of HOT STYLING TOOLS
  3. AVOID TOUCHING YOUR HAIR… this is so damn hard for me 😭
  4. LIMIT WASHING YOUR HAIR in a week ( I generally wash them twice a week … or once if possible)
  5. USE HAIR OIL on your ends
  6. Take HAIR VITAMINS to prevent HAIR LOSS
  7. ALWAYS use HEAT PROTECTOR SPRAY
  8. AVOID TYING YOUR HAIR as much as possible to prevent breackage

Changing hair is loads of fun and a great way to express yourself too, however some “looks” may require more care and attentions than other so always consider how low or high maintenance you can go to πŸ˜‰ and tell me what is your dream hair color?

Hope you have a lovely week

Love,

J.
