Unwinding after a long day what a wonderful feeling! That day is usually Friday night for me, when my mind is finally set free to reset and recharge it self.
What I like to do mainly is having good quality time for myself, which I find as I grow older has become kind of a necessity. Starting with simple things like taking time to do something that sets me in a good mood from my skincare routine, to taking warm baths, or even just taking deep breaths while listening to some music only with the purpose of enjoying fully the essence of the moment.
So here are a couple of things i generally do to unwind after a long and stressful day:
Put on your favorite music
It is magical how your favorite music can just help you forget about all of the stress you were feeling that day. Music is such a great way to find new energy and overcome fatigue or stressful thoughts! And in those days when we are a little bit on edge and over emotional it also provides a great deal of relief to me.
Indulge to yummy stuff
Going out to eat something delicious would be ideal, but with the pandemic still kicking and the second lockdown among us is certainly not an option!
However after a long day at work indulging to some of your favorite foods has a way of making just about any day brighter.
When I have time I also enjoy a lot cooking my own favorite foods ( pizza, risotto, pasta 😋, I love my carbs as you can see or even pancakes, cupcakes and cookies). It gives me a real rewarding feeling since I personally have put effort and time into it, and sometimes creating a delicious meal provides an extra boost of confidence, is like realizing “hey, I can take really good care of myself 🥰” .
However for those extra lazy days a quick trip to the bakery can also be a fun way to forget about all of the stress accumulated during the day.
Reading along with Audiobooks
I know, there are some who hate it and some who love it. I am obviously part of the second group, I adore audiobooks ( of course a good narrator is crucial… in this case but when they are really well done it’s a whole new experience!) I particularly like hearing and reading along especially after a long tiresome day as this really works like a charm for my mood. Plus this is usually the way I can better envision things and immerse myself completely into the story.
Take a warm bath
Do I really need to explain why i love Warm Baths? …I did not think so 😁… Especially now that the weather is getting chillier by the day, this is all you can ever wish for after a long day ❤️
YOU TIME: in my case FACEMASK AND SKINCARE
You all know I love a good skincare routine, I try to be constant as much as possible with my daily steps however after a long day I like to take extra time to follow a sort of ritual and give extra love to my skin by not only washing, toning, hydrating… and all that jazz but adding extra steps like a deeper cleanser, exfoliating or putting on a nice face mask!
My point is that truly Unwinding is going to help greatly when it comes to mental and physical health. So getting into a good habit and making time to properly follow your guilty pleasure especially after a stressful period is something essential that should always be our basic priorities😊
