Decluttering experience (part one)

It’s been three weeks since I started decluttering my space and my home in general…and YES it’s been quite a challenge since as said countless times I am a messy person. However after being stuck in this insane quarantine life I started living my home and my spaces differently.

I wanted to surround myself in a calming and cheerful dimension where everything gave me air to be, to create and to enjoy life even during these times….

So after a first Netflix overload e two Marie Kondo episodes later I found my self automatically starting planning what I wanted to change in my home and guess what… the next day as soon as I woke up I started my decluttering process with my Clothes… oh boy that was a shock…

I remeber doing something similar last year where I had gotten rid of bags after bags of stuff I had never wore in years or worse ever… But still one year later there was yet more to go. It took me two days but at the end I succeded in keeping and tyding the items that I actually wanted to wear.

Up next I moved to giving a new feel to my study room, where I pass most of the time again removing stuff I no longer used or needed and trying to make things more soothing for me.

Did also minimal changes in the bathroom by rearranging all the products so that everything had an assigned place, I hope to keep (fingers crossed).

To the worse part … I have a good size apartment for italian standards and most of it has been repainted and re-furnished by us even if sometimes on a budget as we rather spent our money in travels as personal preferences. Regardless there is one room I left the way we found it when we first moved in and that is the kitchen. I love cooking and I don’t want to compromise on something because I don’t have the budget for it, I would rather wait until we can actually re do it as I wish. So bottom line the kitchen I have is a full on 80/90′ time travelling machine and the worst problem is storage space.

I constantly struggle to find stuff and to keep it tidy that is why I searched for solution to help me rearrange the cabinets and categorize foods in containers.

Last but not least make up…yep…this was hard… I had so much stuff I was not using I was feeling actually ashamed. I honestly feel that fast fashion and the constant offer of new product got me a bit overwhelmed and without realizing it I started accumulating it. After this realization I just carried on a fixed my vanity and my mind too!

What I take from this decluttering experience? Well I believe a new consciousness a new desire to be better, i still know my limits so in all honesty I don’t think I can became a full on minimalist but I can try to be more aware about my stuff and my spaces.

What about you? Have you tried decluttering your space during the quarantine? Let me know your thoughts!

See you very soon!

Have a lovely Sunday

Love,

J.
